About Sikh Center Porterville

Brief History

In late 1990s, a few Sikh families living in Porterville, used to travel to Bakersfield or Fresno to attend Gurdwara meeting for prayers and worship. To avoid long drives, the Sikh families in Porterville started holding monthly prayer meeting in their living rooms or garages. At that time Sikh Center Porterville was registered with the Internal RevenueService as nonprofit religious organization. As the interest in thesurrounding communities grew for a common place of worship, in 2007 five acres of land at 1250 W. North Grand Ave in Porterville was acquired . The temporary building at this site was renovated and weekly prayer meeting have been held since then.


Management Information

Every member of Sikh Center Porterville family is important contributor to the smooth running of the Gurdwara activities. However, certain duties (Sewas) are assigned to the following members:
